PROTECTING THE LEGAL INTERESTS OF INJURED HAWAII RESIDENTS AND VISITORS SINCE 1973

Hawaiian car accidents sometimes lead to homicide investigations

Two vehicles were involved in a collision on a Saturday in Hawaii. Sadly, one life was lost in the aftermath of the crash. Following many car accidents, such as this one, an official investigation ensues. Police have advised anyone who might have details pertinent to the recent case to call the phone number they have provided to the public.

Apparently, a car had been heading north on the road and the driver was attempting to navigate a bend. Perhaps due to road conditions, the driver lost control of steering, and the vehicle veered into a southbound lane. Upon spinning into the wrong lane of traffic, a broad-side collision with another vehicle occurred.

All persons involved were taken to the hospital for treatment. A 20-year-old man who had been traveling as a front seat passenger in the car whose driver is deemed to have caused the crash succumbed to his injuries a few hours after arriving at the medical facility. A homicide investigation has been initiated, and police are hoping that witnesses will contact them to assist in the investigation.

Hawaiian car accidents that are caused by a motorist’s negligence, and result in injury or death to others, can become grounds for litigation if those who survive their injuries, or those who suffer the untimely death of an immediate family member, choose to file legal claims in a civil court. A compensatory award cannot bring about physical healing, nor can it provide a replacement for the loss of human life; however, it can be used to help pay medical bills or absorb funeral costs and other expenses associated with an accident. A first logical step to take if considering filing such a claim would be to contact a personal injury lawyer in the area.
