Hawaiian roads are busy thoroughfares crowded with residents and tourists who are navigating traffic lanes for various personal and/or professional reasons. Even when motorists conduct themselves according to the highest levels of caution and safety, car accidents sometimes still occur. Sadly, some of those accidents involve pedestrians.
In a recent incident, a 79-year-old woman had reportedly just disembarked a city bus and was attempting to walk across the street. It was approximately 7:30 p.m. when the vehicle of a male motorist, age 50 or more, allegedly struck her. Emergency workers immediately transported the woman to a nearby hospital. She was listed in critical condition.
Sadly, it was reported that the elderly woman later succumbed to her injuries. Residents in the vicinity stated that the woman was a neighbor who lived in the area. Traffic was rerouted and roads closed for more than three hours in the aftermath of the tragic accident.
Car accidents that result in the loss of human life are considered tragic and upsetting for all those involved.
