In the hustle and bustle of everyday American life, many people find themselves rushing to get from one place to another. In some cases, this can result in a decision to operate a vehicle at a speed above the posted limit. Unfortunately for one driver and his passenger, this decision led to a tragic crash in Hilo, Hawaii.

Hawaii News Now reported the accident, which occurred around 11:00 p.m. on a Sunday evening in June, left one dead, another injured in Hilo, Hawaii. Those near the scene stated the crash resulted in a loud noise and a flash of light akin to fireworks. Enforcement officers on the scene suspect speeding played a role in the crash.

Those who live in the area stated the accident could have been much worse. A resident of the area where the crash occurred noted that the car smashed into a large brick wall. If the wall had not been there, the car would likely have crashed into the home it protected. An automobile hitting a home at high speeds may have injured residents within the home.

When negligent drivers cause accidents that lead to injuries, they are liable for the costs associated with the injuries that resulted from the crash. An injured person can establish negligence in many ways, including showing that the driver was speeding at the time of the crash. If negligence is established, the driver could be liable to cover the cost of medical and rehabilitative expenses as well as potential pain and suffering.
