Woman dies after medical facility’s failure to diagnose infection

Patients expect a certain level of care when admitted to a medical facility. With many of the workers in these establishments undergoing extensive training, people in Hawaii expect the utmost diligence regarding the treatment they receive. Anytime there is failure to diagnose a medical condition, the health of the patient may be at risk. A man is accusing a facility of medical malpractice in a similar situation that resulted in the death of his wife.

The wife had recently been diagnosed with a specific type of cancer. She was undergoing treatment for the disease and was informed by a doctor that her recent surgery was a success, and she could begin chemotherapy. Several days after receiving chemotherapy she began to experience pain and sickness, prompting her husband to rush her to the hospital.

After being in the hospital for a few days, the woman passed away. The cause of death was partly due to septic shock, which is believed to be the result of an infection that was missed by medical care providers. The husband recently filed the medical malpractice lawsuit, alleging that the facility failed to diagnose a urinary tract infection, which resulted in the death of his wife.

Medical and burial costs can put a significant financial burden on a family. This may only add to the stress involved with the loss of a loved one. If the loss comes as a result of the failure to diagnose and treat a condition by a medical facility, financial restitution may be sought through a claim against the party deemed at fault. Families of victims in Hawaii often seek the advice of an experienced attorney when facing a similar situation for advice on how to proceed with a medical malpractice claim.
