Tow truck drivers often face many dangers while out in the field. With many cars being stranded on congested roadsides, they are often forced to operate in close proximity to traffic. Sadly, quite a few car accidents involve roadside workers who are seriously injured, or worse. A 25-year-old man has suffered critical injuries after a recent accident in Hawaii under similar circumstances.

The man was parked on the side of the road while attempting to tow a stranded vehicle. He was securing the vehicle when a car slammed into the back of his truck. He was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition with serious leg injuries. Police have advised that speed may have been a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.

Many states, including Hawaii, have laws in place to protect the operators of emergency and service vehicles. When one of these vehicles is roadside, they have indicators intended to catch the attention of other drivers in order to get them to slow down and, if possible, change lanes. Unfortunately, some drivers disregard these signs.

Individuals who suffer serious injuries in car accidents often face periods of hardship. Medical bills are often extensive, and time off work can create significant financial struggles. If an investigation determines that another party was at fault in an accident, the victim may seek restitution by filing a personal injury claim. When facing a similar situation, many people in Hawaii retain the services of an experienced attorney for assistance in navigating the process.
