When a Hawaiian motorist’s negligence causes a collision that results in injury to another, the victim may seek recovery for their losses in a civil court. Car accidents that result in fatalities are often grounds for immediate family members to file wrongful death claims against the driver or drivers deemed responsible. In some situations, a driver may also face criminal charges due to alcohol-related issues or other reckless actions behind the wheel.

A 22-year-old man was arrested and now faces multiple charges in connection with a fatal accident that occurred on a recent Saturday night. Apparently, there were at least two other people in the vehicle in addition to the driver. He is accused of failing to render aid and leaving the scene of an accident, among other charges.

The vehicle reportedly careened out of control, crashing into trees and two utility poles off the road. A 24-year-old man riding in the front passenger seat was taken to a hospital for treatment, then released. A female passenger in the rear seat was said to have been ejected upon impact and died at the scene.

Excessive speed and alcohol are thought to be two of the leading causal factors in the fatal Hawaii crash. Local police have requested that anyone with information about the collision call a publicized phone number to aid in an ongoing investigation of the incident. Immediate family members of deceased victims in car accidents can seek guidance by contacting an experienced personal injury lawyer to discuss their situations.
