Hawaii is a popular destination for tourists and travelers from all over the world. For both tourists and locals, mopeds are a popular mode of transportation. Unfortunately, when car accidents involve these types of motorbikes, victims sometimes suffer serious injuries.

In a motor vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on a recent Tuesday, a car and a moped collided. Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly thereafter to render aid to those in need. The responders provided treatment to an injured man who had been the operator of the moped.

Officials say the man appeared to be little more than 20 years of age. After initiating treatment for his injuries at the site, the paramedics transported the young man to a nearby hospital for continued emergency care. Sadly, an update on the incident stated that the man had succumbed to his injuries. The highway was closed for several hours in the aftermath of the tragic accident.

Other car accidents in Hawaii sometimes result in similar injuries or fatalities. In circumstances in which a motorist is believed to have been negligent, a victim who survives his or her injuries is able to seek compensation for damages by filing a claim against the party deemed responsible for the accident. When a victim does not survive a collision, his or her immediate family members may act on behalf of their deceased loved one. Compensation can never serve as a replacement for the loss of human life, but court-awarded compensation in a successfully litigated case could be used to help offset funeral costs and other expenses associated with an accident.
