Protecting The Legal Interests Of Injured Hawaii Residents And Visitors Since 1973

Pedestrians are sometimes involved in Hawaii car accidents

One does not typically expect to be involved in an automobile collision when traveling on foot. However, some car accidents in Hawaii do involve pedestrians, and injuries often result in these types of crashes. In a recent accident of this nature, critical injuries were suffered by a woman who was walking on the road.

Police say that the accident took place at approximately 7 p.m. on a recent Monday in Kaimuki. A 56-year-old woman was reportedly crossing the street within a marked crosswalk on the road. A vehicle is said to have struck the woman as she made her way across the street.

She was taken to an area medical center and listed in critical condition as a result of her injuries. The person behind the wheel of the car was a 62-year-old man. He escaped the incident without injury. Law enforcement agents have stated that they do not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the accident.

The law in Hawaii protects its citizens by allowing those injured in car accidents to file legal claims in civil court against a motorist deemed negligent. Depending upon the severity of injuries suffered, recovering victims sometimes find themselves facing undue financial stress because of mounting medical bills, physical therapy costs or other monetary losses related to accidents. A personal injury lawyer can act as a legal advocate in court in order to seek compensation on behalf of serious injured pedestrian accident victims for damages that could be used to help offset some of those financial damages.
