A tragedy occurred on a roadway in Hawaii on a recent Tuesday morning. The accident resulted in one fatality. Car accidents, such as this one, often lead to criminal charges being filed against a motorist. In addition, a collision that results in the death of a victim is often grounds for the immediate surviving family members of the victim to file a legal claim in a civil court.

It was approximately 8:40 a.m. when the accident took place. Police reported that a 32-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the road. Sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries later that day. A 22-year-old male was behind the wheel of the vehicle that is said to have hit the woman.

The driver was reportedly arrested at the scene. Police say he was operating a motor vehicle without proof of valid car registration and insurance. He was also charged with negligent homicide and driving under a suspended license.

The roadways surrounding the intersection where the accident occurred were closed temporarily following the incident. In similar cases, immediate family members who suffer the loss of  loved ones car accidents are able to pursue legal action on behalf of the deceased when the deaths have been caused by another motorist’s negligence. A first logical step to take when considering filing a legal claim would be to contact a legal professional in Hawaii who has experience in personal injury and wrongful death cases. While taking legal action against another party is never a replacement for the loss of human life, it can be of comfort to grieving families to know that justice can provide retribution by means of court-awarded compensation to help absorb some of the many financial losses associated with a tragic accident.
