Hawaii car accidents: Cyclist seriously injured on Oahu

When a medical prognosis is uncertain and a patient's vital signs are abnormal with the potential for death imminent, a person is listed in critical condition. Victims of car accidents in Hawaii typically experience significant pain and suffering when gravely injured in vehicular tragedies. Police reported a collision that occurred on a local street in Nuuanu close to 8:30 p.m. on a recent Sunday night.

Authorities stated that a 62-year-old man was riding his bicycle when a truck collided with him. Allegedly, the pickup truck driver was attempting to make a left hand turn. In doing so, his vehicle is said to have crashed into the bicyclist. Rescue workers quickly transported the seriously injured bicyclist to a nearby medical center.

The road was shut down for several hours following the accident. Whether driving at excessive speed or alcohol were factors in the crash is not yet known. Presumably, the official accident investigation is ongoing, and there is as yet no indication concerning the possibility of criminal charges being filed against the pickup driver.

The statute of limitations in Hawaii with regard to the filing of personal injury claims is typically two years, but there are exceptions. It is best to seek professional advice as soon as possible after an accident. Pain and suffering resulting from a serious injury caused by the negligence of another party is a proper basis for pursuing legal action in order to seek compensation in a civil court. A legal team with experience in litigation involving injuries from car accidents would most likely be able to offer relevant advice to a person who seeks to initiate a claim.
