A car accident yesterday closed the Harano Tunnel for hours in the evening. The accident, which involved six cars, occurred shortly after 5 p.m. in the entrance of the tunnel and necessitated closing all traffic lanes.

The cause of the car accident is unclear from the news reports, but apparently involved a crash of some of the vehicles, which then triggered a fire in a van. The van was carrying flammable tanks, but one witness indicated that the fire had begun in engine compartment of the vehicle and was not caused by the tanks catching fire.

The police had to reroute traffic from the H-3 as smoke belched from the entrance of the tunnel. Five people were involved, two of whom did not need medical treatment. However, three victims of the car accident were transported to the hospital. Two patients were listed as being in stable condition, but the third man was reported to be in serious condition due to his injuries.

While traffic fatalities often grab the headlines, it is important to remember that for every highway death, there are many injured, and in traffic accidents, the injuries can be severe. Beyond a broken bone or sore neck, many of these injuries are catastrophic, leaving their victims in need of a lifetime of enhance medical care.

If you have been involved in a car accident and have suffered injuries because of the negligence of another driver, you need to speak with an attorney who can help determine if you have a viable case for compensation.
